Michael Petroutsas is Head of Astellas Pharma US, headquartered in Northbrook, Ill. Astellas Pharma US is the largest regional affiliate of the Tokyo-based pharmaceutical company. Mike combines his passion for driving bold strategic solutions with an unwavering commitment to meeting patients where they are to bring them life-affirming, first-in-class health solutions. Mike oversees Astellas’ US oncology and medical specialties businesses including women’s health, infectious disease, immunology and urology.
Mike brings more than 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience to the role. He has a proven track record of leading successful commercial, strategic and operational teams in geographies around the globe. His driving force is leading by example to help patients with an open and honest approach that inspires people to consistently exceed targets.
Prior to Astellas, Mike served as Senior Vice President, US Specialty and Oncology Business, at GSK. There, he successfully launched the US Oncology division and focused on commercializing transformational medicines to help many patients with complex diseases in immunology, hepatology, respiratory and renal areas. Before that, he held senior positions at Pfizer and Novartis Oncology.
A pharmacist by training, Mike earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Long Island University, where he has served as a guest lecturer since 2006, and his MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
