Medical congresses provide healthcare professionals (HCPs) with educational opportunities, offering access to cutting-edge science, meaningful clinical data, and comprehensive scientific programs, as well as opportunities for peer-to-peer exchange. Astellas is dedicated to supporting HCP congress attendance through one of two ways; direct funding to an individual HCP or a grant to a healthcare organization (HCO).

Astellas welcomes funding requests from HCPs to further their medical education through congress attendance, where this funding is permitted by relevant local codes, regulations and laws. To be considered, requests must meet Astellas' eligibility criteria outlined below. For successful applicants, Astellas will handle congress registration, travel and accommodation arrangements as appropriate.

HCP eligibility criteria

  • Must be a registered and currently practicing HCP in good standing within a relevant therapy area/specialization related to the congress in scope.
  • Must be in a position to share/communicate the knowledge obtained at the scientific congress with their wider medical community (e.g. work in a teaching hospital, have educational program responsibilities, etc.).
  • Only major international scientific congresses are in scope.
  • Applicants must be proficient in English.
  • Must practice in one of the ‘in-scope’ regions/locations of this process (i.e. Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Africa & Asia Pacific [excluding China] where this type of support is allowed by law, code, or local regulations).
  • Must not have already received any funding from Astellas or from other pharmaceutical companies for the same congress.

HCOs can apply for grants to support HCP attendance at eligible congresses that are consistent with Astellas' therapy areas of interest. As Astellas provides the grant only, HCOs must be able to independently manage all aspects of the congress registration, travel, and accommodation arrangements as appropriate.

Eligible HCO types

  • Government or public-funded hospital
  • University or research group
  • Medical society or association
  • Private hospital (eligibility may vary by location)

If your location/region is not listed in the table below, unfortunately we cannot offer funding at this time.
