Mark Niemaszek is vice president, for Astellas Commercial Operations. He is responsible for multiple groups within the organization, including Insights & Analytics, Commercial Learning and Development, and Marketing & Sales Operations. Niemaszek is a member of Astellas Pharma US Management and Compliance Committees and executive sponsor of Astellas’ volunteerism program.
Niemaszek started his pharmaceutical career with Lyphomed Pharmaceuticals in the late 1980’s, helping establish the Company’s internal audit function. In 1991, he joined Fujisawa – merged with Yamanouchi in 2005 to create Astellas - and moved into a senior accountant position. In the mid-1990’s, he led the Commercial Accounting function at Fujisawa USA with responsibility for managing regional accounting consolidation and accounting activities. In 2005, Niemaszek moved to the commercial organization to develop and lead Astellas’ Commercial Operation functions. Niemaszek became vice president of Commercial Operations and consolidated all of the Commercial analytical and operations functions, including execution of commercial and distance learning, development of field incentive compensation, reporting and alignments, US market research, new product analysis and competitive intelligence functions. He also led the establishment of the Company’s commercial material review and advanced analytics platforms.
Before joining the industry, Niemaszek was a financial analyst at Northrup Corporation, where he developed and tracked budgets for government defense-related contracts. Niemaszek earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from St. Joseph’s College, and received his Master of Business Administration in international business and finance from Roosevelt-DePaul University.
