Astellas’ Commitment to Health Literacy and Accessibility

Our commitment

What this covers

We are working to make sure our patient-facing materials are easy to access and understand. This covers many materials, including clinical trial resources and patient information leaflets. It also means designing for people who have trouble hearing, seeing, moving, or who find information hard to understand.

The standards we follow

We follow plain-language and health-literacy best practices. This makes our information easy to understand and act on. For our digital content, we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – the international standard for accessibility.

How we're improving

Becoming a health-literate organization is a journey. As a first step, we reviewed our materials. We also talked with patients and advocacy groups to understand the barriers they face. We are using what we learned to build in clear, inclusive design from the very start of our work. Right now, we are:

  • Giving teams across Astellas training and guidance on best practices
  • Using plain language to make information clearer
  • Adding ReciteMe accessibility software to our websites
  • Checking our materials with both automated tools and people
  • Listening to feedback from users to improve

We are making health literacy and accessibility part of how we work. Our aim is simple: information that reaches, informs, and helps every patient we serve.
