Background

As announced in its Corporate Strategic Plan 2018 based on its vision “On the forefront of healthcare change to turn innovative science into value for patients”, Astellas is committed to “Developing Rx+TM (1) programs,” which aims to create new healthcare solutions (Rx+TM) that combine expertise and experience cultivated through the prescription drug (Rx) business with attractive seeds from different fields.

As a part of such efforts, in this fiscal year we are implementing the accelerator programs in "Tech ARINA (2)" to match the technologies of the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) with our medical knowledge and experience. We will hold this symposium to let everyone know about our latest efforts for the challenge to evolution which may be realized by connecting healthcare and technology. Also, we would like to talk about the healthcare in the future with the visitors.

(1) Rx+TM creates new patient values on every “Patient Journey” that combines our expertise and experiences with technology and knowledge from different fields to build new revenue streams separate from our core Rx products

(2) Tech ARINA: It stands for Tokyo Tech-Astellas Rx+ INnovation Award. Idea contest for healthcare research themes using science and technology related to Astellas' wish list is held, and joint research on accelerator programs will be conducted between Tokyo Tech and Astellas for social implementation of selected ideas.
