Japan, January 19, 2010 - Astellas Pharma Inc. ("Astellas";Headquarters: Tokyo, President & CEO: Masafumi Nogimori) today announced that it will make a donation of 5 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross, assisting relief efforts after the major earthquake that struck the Caribbean Haiti, on 12th January.
In addition, U.S. subsidiary, Astellas Pharma US, Inc. has made a donation of 50 thousand dollars through the Astellas USA Foundation. Astellas Pharma Europe Ltd. will also shortly announce a charitable contribution to provide support to this appeal.
Astellas expresses its deepest sympathy for victims of the Haiti earthquake and our thoughts are with those personally affected by the tragedy.
