Disaster Relief Activities

Astellas has a business continuity plan (BCP) in place to address unforeseen events, such as natural disasters. We are reinforcing our system to ensure that medicines are delivered to patients in a reliable manner, with no interruption to supplies. The world has recently seen various types of disasters. Astellas responds to needs in afflicted areas, not only in Japan but also in other nations.

Support for the typhoon Sendong victims in the Philippines

In December 2011, we donated $20,000 to the Philippine Urological Association (PUA) via the Astellas Asia-Oceania Foundation, to provide relief for those affected by Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines and assist with recovery work in the affected area. The money helped those affected by the typhoon by enabling pillows, flashlights, pans, kettles, and other essential items to be sent out to 900 families living in tents in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan. Our donation also helped pay for the installation of simple shower cubicles and flushing toilets.

Support for flood victims in Thailand

Working with the Thai Red Cross Society, in October 2011 we provided relief for those affected by flooding in Thailand and assisted with recovery work in the affected area via the Astellas Asia-Oceania Foundation.

Support for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake
