To ensure that our pharmaceutical products are used as they should be, Astellas must both provide information on their proper use and gather data on safety and efficacy.Calling on medical institutions and conducting those information exchanges is the role of our Medical Representatives. The Astellas Medical Representatives system is one of the best in Japan and constantly improving, as we strive for unrivalled excellence in the provision of reliable, high quality information and gathering data from actual use of our products, parallel activities that earn the trust of medical professionals.
A robust structure supports our Medical Representatives.
Our Medical Representatives must have expert knowledge of Astellas products, but that is only the beginning;they must also be knowledgeable about a wide range of pharmaceutical products, including those made by other companies, and also be informed about the latest treatment methods. Our Instructors and Area Marketing Supporters (AMS) provide in-depth support for Astellas Medical Representatives. Instructors provide an extensive range of training experiences for Medical Representatives, supporting the development of a deeper understanding of new products and the latest medical information. AMS help create an environment that will promote the wider adoption of new drugs through, for example, support in the planning of workshops and lectures about products or clinical conferences. This system enables Medical Representatives, working with other employees, to engage in gathering and providing information of a high caliber.
Ties to R&D boost capabilities.
At Astellas, we feed back the information our Medical Representatives gather from medical professionals to our R&D division. That information enables researchers to consider even more effective and safer ways of using our products, based on information from actual clinical practice. Moreover, comments from patients, doctors, and others involved in patient care enable us to understand our clientsEneeds more completely and are valuable data both for developing new drugs and opening up new potentialities of existing pharmaceutical products.
A variety of information-providing programs back up our Medical Representatives.
Astellas Medical Net, a website for medical professionals, and Pharmaceutical Products Data Box,which provides information by fax, are among the systems Astellas has introduced to permit those providing patient care to acquire basic information on our products, twenty-four hours a day. Moreover, the Astellas Drug Information Center responds to questions from medical professionals, patients, and their family members about drugs: how to take them, safety, indications, and effects. The comments and suggestions that they provide are valuable feedback for us, which we reflect in our efforts to build an even more robust system for providing the information the people we serve need.
