Astellas has been donating ambulances to local emergency teams every year since 1970. Primarily due to the aging population, the number of cases of ambulances being dispatched is rising. Also, due to the specialization and intensification of medical care, travel times from the initial call for help to arrival at a treatment facility have been increasing. For this reason, there is a growing need for high-grade ambulances equipped to provide adequate emergency treatment while the patient is being transported.

The following chart shows the number of ambulances (regular-grade and high-grade ambulances) donated since 1970.

The company had donated 216 ambulances to municipalities throughout Japan as of fiscal 2009.
